One of the only veterinary facilities in Los Angeles County
using on-site radiation therapy.
Radiation Therapy utilizes high energy photons or electrons to target cancer cells and is used in the treatment of some types of cancer. Radiation therapy treats a specific tumor location and kills rapidly growing cancer cells and can be used either by itself or in conjunction with surgery and/or chemotherapy.
Definitive Radiation Therapy is used with the goal of ridding the patient of cancer. It typically lasts three to four weeks and is often given on a Monday through Friday schedule or twice weekly schedule.
Palliative Radiation Therapy is used to treat pain and inflammation associated with tumors, and is utilized for patient comfort measures. It is a short course of therapy usually given over 3-5 days with minimal to no side effects.
